Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Head to Lake Mburo National Park
Start your 12 days Uganda safari with a pick up from your hotel for a transfer to Lake Mburo national park with en route stop over at the Equator for photography. Arrive in time for a lunch break and later go for evening game drives and nature walk.
Day 2: Ankole cattle experience & Proceed to Mgahinga Gorilla Park
After breakfast go for an Ankole cattle experience where you will know about cattle rearing in Uganda and later proceed to Mgahinga gorilla Park. You will arrive early enough for a lunch break and in the evening take a community visit.
Day 3: Golden Tracking & Birding
Head to the park headquarters for a briefing and then proceed to the park for golden monkey tracking where you will meet some of the rare primates in East Africa. You will later return for hot Lunch at your lodge and in the evening go for a guided birding walk where you will see a number of birds.
Day 4: Batwa Trail & Transfer to Eastern Bwindi
On this day you will go for a batwa trial experience where you will hike with the Batwa to the forest as they show you their initial ways of life. If the season is on you can get a chance to taste honey collected by the Batwa. You will later return for a transfer to Eastern Bwindi National Park arriving in the later afternoon.
Day 5: Mountain Gorilla Tracking
This is the most anticipated day as you head out to track mountain gorillas in the jungles of Bwindi. Hike the forested mountains and be in the presence of gorillas for a hour and later return for a transfer to your Lodge. If you are not tired you can go for a walk.
Day 6: Transfer to Ishasha & Game drives
Exit Bwindi after breakfast for a transfer to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Arrive early enough for game drives searching for the most famous tree climbing lions. Have a lunch break and later have an evening game drive or a walk along River Ishasha.
Day 7: Game drive & Boat Cruise
Have more game drives in-case you missed seeing some wildlife the previous day and proceed to Mweya for more game drives along the Mweya peninsular. Have a lunch break and go for a Kazinga channel boat cruise where you will see a number of wildlife especially hippos and birds.
Day 8: Visit the Bat Caves and Kyambura gorge walk
Start the day with a visit to the bat cave in Maramagambo forest where you will also see a number of birds. After lunch go for a nature walk in Kyambura gorge forest home to chimpanzees and other primates. In the evening you can go for game drives in the Kasenyi area.
Day 9: Lion Tracking & Transfer to Kibale National Park
On this morning you will go for lion tracking getting a chance to get close to these fierce predators and later exit the park for a transfer to Kibale National Park via the crater lakes of Ndali and Kasseda.
Day 10: Chimpanzee Habituation experience
This is another day with the primates where you will get to know more about the routine of chimpanzees in the wild. Chimpanzee habituation is a more experiential activity giving you more time with the chimpanzees.
Day 11: Visit Semuliki National Park
Have breakfast and head to Semuliki national park for a visit. Arrive early enough for a nature walk to the hot springs and the forest where you will see a number of birds endemic to the central African forests.
Day 12: Departure
Leave western Uganda for a transfer back to Kampala for a drop off at the hotel or Airport depending on schedule.
